Results: Geodashing Game 200 (GDDW)

"For the next nearly four hours, I was captivated by an area that is as close
to pristine as any coast in California is, anymore. Lots of sagebrush and
chamise, lots of California poppies in bloom, lots of birds - house finch,
California scrub-jay, wrentit, California Towhee, white-crowned sparrows,
cormorants and several types of gulls were the major species - the occasional
lizard, a few hikers. The coastline here is composed primarily of ancient
sedimentary rocks, although a short distance north, in the Morro Bay area,
volcanics predominate. Erosion by wind and waves have carved the points of
land into craggy sea stacks, sometimes submerged. Some of the stacks have
holes and tunnels, where softer rocks, or cracks in them, have been acted upon
by the waves. Much of my time was spent enjoy the play of wind, wave and
rocks, and taking many pictures and videos."

That's Geodashing in California with chaosmanor

Game 200 (GDDW) of Geodashing was won by GeoTerriers (38 points). Honorable
mention goes to Llama League (18 points).

Individual honors go to SoccerFanatics. Honorable mentions go to Douq Millar
and deodasher.

The game saw 28 dashpoint hunts in two countries (Australia, US).

A sampling of waypoints visited by Geodashing players this month:

in the water, a perfect 85 meters off a coastal hiking trail in California, an
aquatic dashpoint

on Maryland's Eastern Shore, where houses line the Sassafras River preventing
seeing where it enters the Chesapeake Bay

out of reach in Oxnard, California, on the edge of the Ventura County Juvenile
Justice Complex, behind a locked chain-link fence-and-gate

in suburban Melbourne, on the South Gippsland Highway (aka The Gippy) beneath
power lines with undeveloped land on either side

in suburban Washington, DC, in Maryland, 130 meters into the woods at the end
of a cul-de-sac

in an open field in Maryland with the stubble of last year's corn crop still
visible, along with overhead irrigation plumbing

in Iowa, down a well-graveled road still slinging mud with tires, in a boring
unfenced soybean field with a brown farmhouse just north

in front of uncovered nursery greenhouse hoops in Yanceyville, North Carolina

in Missouri at the entrance to a long driveway with the house out of sight
around a curve and behind trees

98 meters down a driveway in Maryland, in dense woods

just off the rails-to-trails Illinois Prairie Path trail in Aurora, Illinois,
near business park with a retention pond and a loading dock

just out of reach beyond a locked gate leading to an absolutely palatial home
along the very narrow Mountain Charlie Road in the Santa Cruz mountains south
of San Jose

and near a cement plant off I-69 north of Houston

Thanks to all the Geodashing players, whose many great reports are
quoted here, not always with proper attribution. Complete, original
reports are available on the Web site.

About Geodashing: Geodashing is a game in which players use GPS
receivers on a playing field that covers the entire planet. The
waypoints, or dashpoints, to be reached are randomly selected. The win
goes to who can get to the most dashpoints; that is, if you can get to
them at all! Each game has a new set of dashpoints making each game
different and unpredictable. For more information and to play, visit .
