Here's a little game that you can play with a GPS. You can play it while hiking, or walking around your neighborhood, or even while geocaching to keep things interesting on the route to the cache.

Say there are two of you hiking. Record the location of the trailhead in your GPS. Arbitrarily pick a target distance, say 1/2 mile. Then, while hiking, try to guess when you are exactly 1/2 mile from the trailhead. When you think you are there, call "Stop." Either party can call "Stop" whenever he thinks you have reached that magic spot. Then, use the GPS to check the distance. If your distance covered is over 1/2 mile, the caller wins. If you are under 1/2 mile, the caller loses. Repeat as often as desired with either a further distance or a new starting point.
