GeoGolf Driving Competition   Print  E-mail
Written by Markwell
I'm making a leap of faith here and announcing the first "Driving
Competition" for GeoGolf.

Players should request their course after November 1 and prior to
November 8 (local midnight). Course holes for this tournament
should be visited between 12:01 a.m. November 8 and 11:59 p.m.
November 21 - all times local. (Starting it on this date will allow
Geodashers a full weekend to go out and hit the regular dashpoints
on the weekend of Nov 6 and Nov 7).

Signing Up:
Announce via the Yahoo forums that you'd like to play. Markwell
will keep a list of the players. All participants should be signed
up by Nov 7 (you'll need to request your course before then).

Requesting a Course:
*Between Nov 1 and Nov 6 request a course from Scout's Llama
Computer Hopefully, that gives Scout enough time to generate the

*The course should be 12.1 km (long course), and centered at the
coordinates of your choice.

*Once you receive that course, it should be labelled as "Driving
Competition Username" (expample: "Driving Competition Markwell").
Giving them all similar names will let you see the standings in
the "All Courses" list at a glance (sort by course name).

*For this competition, you should only request ONE course, and (on
the honor system) use the one that Scout generates (no cancelling
out a course and trying for a better one).

Playing the Tournament:
Starting on Nov 8, visit the points by DRIVING IN A CAR ONLY. This
*driving* competition is to see how close by car you can reach your
Golfpoints. If the golfpoint lies right along a path in the middle
of a forest preserve, but the closest parking area is 520 meters
away, your score will be 6 strokes for "Under 600m".

End of Tournament:
All holes in courses should be visited by 11:59 p.m. Nov 21 (local)
and reported by Tuesday, November 23. Winners and rankings will be
announced after the last participant's final hole is received and
distributed. There is no prize for finishing early.

Anything else?
